Geçtiğimiz hafta sonu ben ve bazı arkadaşlarım Hasankeyf Su Sporları Oyunları'nı izleme imkanı bulduk.
Ne yazık ki asıl yarışmaların Pazar günü yapılacağını, Cumartesi günkü etkinliklerin ise yarışmacılar için antrenmanlarından oluştuğunu fark etmemiştim.
Yine de gezinin tadını çıkararak herkesin güzel enerjisini ve coşkusunu yaşadık ve Hasankeyf'in derin sularında radikal jet sky manevraları görme fırsatı bulduk.
Hiçbir spor aktivitesi olmasa bile bu kasabaya seyahat etmek değerli bir maceradır.
Yolun bir yanını süsleyen sarp dağlar, diğer yanı Dicle Nehri ile muhteşem bir manzara var.
Liman bölgesinde biraz vakit geçirdikten sonra arkadaşlarıma yürüme mesafesindeki Hasankeyf Müzesi'ni ziyaret etmelerini önerdim.
Uzun zamandır bu müzeye gelmek istiyordum ve hayal kırıklığına uğramadım.
Küratörlük düzeyi ve detaylara verilen önem dikkat çekici ve yetkindi.
Müzede, folkloru ve antik yaşam tarzlarını tasvir eden çok sayıda arkeolojik sergi ve uzun süredir devam eden dönemlere ait rekreasyonlar bulunmakta.
Dioramalar gerçekten muhteşemdi ve görülmeye değerdi.
Müze iki katlı olup, binada İngilizce konuşan personel bulunmaktadır.
Müze gündeminde kafe ve kitapçı da görüşmesi gereken öğelerdendir.
Bu hafta Hırvatistan'dan gelen Zdenko adında genç bir adamla tanıştım.
Yolculuğunun tadını çıkarıyordu ve garip, konforlu üç tekerlekli bisikletiyle geldi.
Batman Park AVM yakınındaki yeni cami alanı (Esentepe Külliyesi) yanında bir fuara katıldık. Fuarda aralarında Peri Reis Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesinin de bulunduğu birçok devlet okulunda Enerji Verimliliği uygulamalarına ilişkin sergiler yer alırken, birçoğunun üretimi de çocuklar tarafından yapıldı.
Hatta evdeki su kullanımının cep telefonundan takip edilmesine yönelik proje uygulaması bile vardı. Önder gibi öğretmenlerin öğrencilerle sürdürdüğü sanat atölyeleri, dijital ve interaktif oyun uygulamaları vardı.
Batman’ın misafirperverliği kapsamında fuar katılımcılarından Şehmus, yurtdışından gelen bir adamın geldiğini fark ederek bizi börek yemeye davet etti.
Hırvat, hem yayaların hem de sürücülerin dikkatini çekerken arkamızda pedal çevirerek aramıza katıldı. Yol boyunca kısa bir molanın ardından Batman PetrolCity AVM'ye yeni eklenen La Minita Kafede yürüyüşümüzü sonlandırdık ve güzel filtrelenmiş kahvenin yanı sıra kek dilimlerinin tadını çıkardık.
Mahallemizdeki aktivitelerin kısıtlı olmasından şikayetçi olanlar olsa da ben hâlâ burada yapılacak güzel şeyler bulmaya devam ediyorum.

An open door
It’s been a while but it’s nice to see that the door is still open if you choose to walk to it and check. Last weekend, me and some friends were able to assist to the Hasankeyf Watersport Games.
Unfortunately, I had not realized that the actual competitions were to be held on Sunday while Saturday’s activities consisted of training exercises for the competitors.
Nevertheless, we took advantage of the trip and enjoyed the good vibes and enthusiasm from everyone and got to see to radical jet sky maneuvers in the deep Hasankeyf waters.
Even if no sport activity is happening, traveling to this this town is a worthy adventure.
The scenery is amazing with jagged mountains adorning at one side of the road and the beautiful Tigris (Dicle) River on the other.
After spending some time in the harbor area, I suggested to my friends to visit the Hasankeyf Museum, which was at walkable distance.
I’ve been wanting to come to this museum for a long time and was not disappointed.
The level of curatorship and attention to detail was remarkable and competent.
The museum has many archeological displays and recreations of long-gone eras depicting folklore and ancient lifestyles.
The dioramas were indeed amazing and worth the visit.
The museum has two floors and there are English speaking personnel in the premises.
On the museum agenda, a café and bookstore are items that should be considered.
During this week, I met a young man named Zdenko who was traveling from Croatia.
He was enjoying his road trip and came along riding his strange, comfortable three-wheeled bicycle.
We attended a fair next to new mosque grounds (Esentepe Kulliyesi) near the Batman Park AVM.
At the fair, several government schools, including the Peri Reis Vocational School, had displays related to Energy Efficient applications, and many were manufactured by the children.
There was even a project application to monitor water use at home from the cellphone.
There were art workshops, digital and interactive gaming applications that teachers such as one called Onder, have ongoing with the students.
As part of Batman’s hospitality, one of the fair attendants, Şehmus, noticing that there was a guy from a foreign country, invited us to have some Borek.
The Croatian joined us pedaling along behind us while catching the attention of pedestrians and drivers alike.
After some quick stops along the way, we ended our trek at La Minita coffee shop, a new addition to Batman’s PetrolCity AVM and we enjoyed some good filtered coffee along with decadent cake slices.
Even though some complain about the limited activities in our neighborhood, I still keep finding nice things to do here. Do you?
